Kevser of Mardin is the Winner with Her “Unhappy Girl Without the Green" Print E-mail
Kevser of Mardin is the winner with her “unhappy girl without the green"

The "Future Brushes" where the students shared their problems with the environment, was full of untouched creativity.

BAHAR CUHADAR - RADIKAL

MARDIN - "I divided my painting into two parts. On one side I drew Yenisehir, on the other our village.... I went to my uncles' home in Yenisehir, I saw Yalimkoy from their balcony. I looked out after 3 o'clock and saw that everywhere was surrounded with dust from radiators. This place is made of concrete and children cannot play outdoors.

The other side of my painting is the village. It is all full of oxygen, no dust no smoke. The children can play in green."

The 12 year old Ugur Emel is a primary school student in Mardin. We have a chat with her after the ceremony, organized by KOROZO AMBALAJ.

The winner is the youngest of all candidates, posing in front of the paintings exhibited in the Erdoba Mansions. The 11 year old Kevser Kidir tells that she actually wants to be a brain surgent "to surge and heal the brain when there is a problem with it". She says she participated to show her painting talent. " Here is a girl in front of her apartment. There is no green and she is unhappy" she says. We ask her if she wants to get a painting education. She tells us "I already get it, our arts teacher gives courses to the talented ones, I am one of them."

"The talented children arise from the girls"

The students applying for the "Future Brushes" competition were elected by painter Ahmet Günestekin, journalist-writer Nora Romi, painter Bubi, arts critic Yalcin Sadak and KOROZO Ambalaj General Manager Jeki Mizrahi. The winners brought new computers to their schools besides their Money awards.

Jeki Mizrahi says: " As the first producer of garbage bags in Turkey, we believe that environmental awareness can only be obtained by education. We held various events in large cities with projects aiming environmental awareness in children. From now on, we have changed our direction to eastern cities where the economical status is lower."

One of the members of the jury, Ahmet Günestekin, gives us a report on the event while saying that the paintings were a work of free minds. " The paintings sent by the children of Mardin were free of colour composition and design anxiety. There is an untouched, unframed creativity... This gives a hint for future. It is so important that a small child has such creativity, such taste of color in his world. Another big hint is that the talents discovered recently are all girls despite the small number of women painters in the world. In this specific geography, the girls with limited freedom, are transferring all their thoughts into the colors."
